
In June Madea Goes to Jail will be in a video store near you. The 2009 crime comedy-drama film adaptation written and directed by Tyler Perry, which was inspired by Perry's play of the same name. As of April 12, the film has grossed $90,299,408, the highest two week record Lionsgate has ever seen.
For those who haven't seen it, the film centers on Perry's character Madea Simmons going to jail for her uncontrollable anger management problems, and also focuses on a developing romance between a young lawyer and a female friend from his past.
